Shared Experiences, Better Outcomes

Over the last several years we have tackled numerous remediation projects and have learnt many lessons along the way.
Below are some of those lessons learnt and a template so you can share your experiences and observations with others.

Field Findings 01 – FlexiBaffles

Eighty FlexiBaffles retrofitted to a concrete fish ladder enabled multiple species to migrate upstream within 24 hours.

Field Findings 02 – FlexiBaffles

Seventy-nine FlexiBaffles in a steep culvert allowed previously blocked species to reach upstream habitats.

Field Findings 03 – Floating Ramp

A floating ramp increased upstream fish from zero to 125 with no maintenance required.

Field Findings 10 – Mussel Spat Rope

A simple rope ladder solution enabled fish to climb a 2.5m vertical drop at minimal cost with easy maintenance.

Client Report 01 – Floating Ramp with Mussel Rope

Effectiveness of floating ramp fitted with mussel-rope for facilitating fish access into a perched culvert.

Field Survery 01 – Williams Road Culvert

Undertake fish monitoring to assess the impact the fish passage remediations have made at the Williams Road culvert.

Field Survey 02 – Harley Road Culvert

Undertake fish monitoring to assess the impact the fish passage remediations have made at the Harley Road culvert.

Field Survey 03 – Todd Valley Stream Culvert

Field trial demonstrated flexible baffles successfully passed 20% of whitebait through a 9.6m culvert with gradients up to 9.3%, proving effectiveness for poor-swimming species.

Nature Fish Passage Evaluation Report – 2024/25 Season

Comprehensive evaluation of flexible rubber ramps and floating ramps at Dominion Stream and Williams Creek, assessing passage success rates for īnanga, banded kōkopu, and native fish across multiple perch heights and remediation treatments.
